Trip to the zoo

Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy, It was finnaly time room 1 and 2 was going to the Aukland Zoo! First of all we organized our groups, I was with Arwyn, Samuel, Quin and Aidan. But to top it all of we had thebest parent/teacher ever; Miss Millar. She is incredible and really kind. Anyway once we had finished sorting out our groups we head off for adventure at the zoo. We jogged in with excitement and starde at the beautiful animals that were on display. We ate morning tea and off we went to observe the exquisite animals that lived in the zoo

The seals
The seals were absolutely stunning, one of them (we named him torpedo) had a little routine. He would come shooting toward the glass like a torpedo and right before he hit he would do a sharp turn and show us his gorgeous belly.

Pabu the red panda
Pabu was my ultimate favourite thing of the zoo because my favourite animal is the panda and there are only two speicies of panda in the world and it feels pretty cool to have one stare at me!

Sarah the samatran tiger
Sarah was beautiful, she was the perfect orange colour with long thick teeth. Right before we were about to leave the tiger had come right up to the window and had a little snooze!

The meercats
I also loved the meercats alot as well, especially going through the tunnels! If you dont know what the tunnels are I will tell you. The tunnels are tunnels with adders leading up to clear domes in the meercat enclosure! It was very fascinating.

Overall I loved all the animals, they were all absolutely stunning! There were alot more animals that we explored but that was just a few. If you are intrested in going to the zoo here is the link, www.aucklandzoo.co.nz

Moving classroom

If you haven't heard yet, room 1 and room 2 moved into their new classroom! It is beautiful and neon! We have 4 break out spaces and a fifth if no one is using it, they all have different things inside of them. 2 of them have no door and the rest do, one of them have a table 2 of them has a kneeling table and the last one doesn't have any thing in it yet as well as the other one. But we still work on the floor in them. One of the hardest parts about moving was finding a new "spot" because in our old old classroom I used to always sit i this one corner. Now I sit in the breakout space with the neon orange table. Here are some photos

This is our big green storage/whiteboard for the teachers to use and put the daily schedule on

We each have our own bag cubbie to put our pencil cases and books and bags in

This is a view of our entire classroom and if you look closely you can see the breakout spaces.

Marshmallow tower

Have you ever wanted to make a super tall tower out of marshmallows? I have and finally our teachers decided to do it! We all got into six groups of six and started building. The people in my group was David, Ethan, Jin, Annalise and me! We decided to go for a tower with a pointed top. Wait, did I mention that the prize was a hot chocolate with marshmallows each! Now that sounded Delicious! Anyway each group got thirty sticks and thirty marshmallows, but the catch was that you had to use all thirty marshmallows and all thirty sticks and we only had thirty five minutes to do that!

The biggest challenge that we faced was that we had ran out of sticks and had like ten more marshmallows that we needed to use. Eventually we got there and had finished our tower, It was 6.5 cm tall! The tallest tower was 21 cm tall! Now that is tall for marshmallows and sticks! The smallest one was a pile of pink and white! The thing that I didn't like at all is that they chose to use my favorite food but we weren't allowed to eat it?😭

The thing that I did like the most about it  was that we all got to come closer as a class and work together. This was a math challenge to show if we knew one, build a tower out of marshmallows and sticks and two to picture a structure in our mind and then create it! Here is our stunning tower that we created!
Here is the tallest one!

Zentangle

In room 1 & 2 we have been doing Zentangle designs! Zentangle is a form of art that is usually black and white, but sometimes it does have color. It has a variety of patterns in it, here is an example...

As you can see there are different sections of patterns to make the rhino shape!
Now you try... Draw a square then add 4 lines any where you want. Now put a different pattern in each ones, here are some patterns to help you out Good luck!!!

Preschool Kapa haka

Kapa Haka Road Trip!

On Thursday the 18 of June a group of 10 went down to kids biz in Torbay. It took about 2 minutes to walk down there, once we got there we spent some time playing with the kids. They are sooooo cute!!! Once we finished cuddlin with all the little kids we did our performance witch sounded and looked amazing!!!! After the performance the gave us a beautiful card and did a little performance of there own. It was soooo adorable!!!!! Then we had to walk back down = (

Describe it

In room 1 & 2 we have created a game called describe it, where someone makes up an animal then writes what to do to draw it! Then we tell the whole class and they have to try draw it! We have had some pretty cool drawings so far we have had a drazil, A Ballfman, Totsie and we made our own and I called mine a zzuf witch is fuzz backwards. Here are my attempts of them and a zzuf
Zzuf is on the bottom right!

Reading!!!

For reading we have been learning about Zoo's! We have read a book about zoo animals areas like enclosures and habitats! here is the book we have been reading:

There was a little article about a Willy B. He is a western low land gorilla, with an owner named Daddy. The first place they put willy b in was a tiny little cage with a tire swing and a television to keep him entertained!

I personally love zoo's and the last one I went to was wellington zoo! A lion face was only 2 inches from mine! it was so cool! If have gone to a zoo the I highly recommend it. here is a link to Auckland zoo
